Boundary And Contents Of Abdominal Cavity

By the diaphragm trunk of the body is divided into two parts lower portion is abdomen.The free space occupied within abdomen is known as abdominal cavity.

Boundary of abdominal cavity 

Superiorly : The diaphragm

Inferiorly : Pelvic bones and pelvic diaphragm.

Anteriorly :Upper portion by costal margin and corresponding ribs with cartilage and anterior abdominal muscles. Middle portion by anterior abdominal muscles. Lower portion by public bone and anterior abdominal muscles.

Posteriorly : Upper part by lumber vertebrae with attached muscles and posterior abdominal wall muscles. Lower part by sacrum and coccyx.

Laterally : Upper part by ribs forming costal margin. Middle part by muscles of anterior abdominal wall. Lower part by hip bones.

Contents of the abdominal cavity

Lower digestive tract : stomach ,small intestine, large intestine.

Hepatobiliary organs : Liver,gallbladder,biliart tree.

Pancreas

Spleen

Urinary organs : Kidney,ureter,bladder,urethra.

Suprarenal gland

Genital organs : Male: vas deference, seminal vesicle,ejaculatory duct,prostate.

Female : ovary,uterus,fallopian tube,vagina.

Some large vessels abdominal aorta,inferior vena cava,portal vein etc.

Vessels,nerves & lymphatics abdominal viscera.
